WOFAD ultimately aspires to see a Malawian
society where all people are empowered and self-reliant. This will be achieved when they:
- Are free to make their own
decisions
- Have knowledge about their rights
and can advocate for them
- Have in-demand skills that allow them to work and earn a living (e.g. IT, health care)
- Have access to resources
- Break the cycle of poverty for
themselves and their children
Objectives:
As a NGO, WOFAD’s role is to improve the socio-economic status of vulnerable women and youth through:
- Capacity building: ensuring WOFAD, its members and communities in which it operates has access to skill and knowledge development programs to support the organisation’s mandate
- Advocacy: influencing change and raising awareness of key human rights issues impacting vulnerable Malawians
- Economic empowerment: developing and supporting income generating and skill development programs and activities to assist vulnerable women and youth
- Knowledge sharing: facilitating knowledge sharing with partners, clients and other stakeholders
