Since its establishment WOFAD has mainly worked in the area of empowering women living with HIV/AIDS and improving their physical, economic, and psycho-social well-being. While working with women infected and affected by HIV has been a major focus of WOFAD's work, the new strategic plan 2015-2020 outlines the new thematic areas which will be the vocal point for the next five years. WOFAD will continue placing great emphasis on supporting women living with HIV/AIDS, however, the beneficiary target group has been expanded to focus on all women and youth, despite their HIV status. Extensive research in the form of survey questionnaires and involvement of stakeholders have been conducted in order to determine the needs and challenges of the new target groups. The research report which was developed to guide future WOFAD programming includes a needs-assessment and will be used to decide how youth and all vulnerable women, HIV-positive as well as HIV-negative, can be incorporated into WOFAD's main programs and activities.
